Usage of the Measurement System

Drive safely for a cleaner environment!

Flat tyres and blow-outs are almost always the result of previous perforations. Underinflated tyres produce more friction when they come into contact with the road surface, increasing the tyre temperature. The result is a deep perforation or blow-out. By checking your tyre pressure right away when tyres have too little air pressure means fewer accidents and traffic congestion. You also use less fuel which is better for the environment since CO2.

Get home safely

Need to check your tyre pressure before you hit the road after loading and unloading? It’s free and only takes a minute once you’ve left APM Terminals at Maasvlakte 2 (MV2). You remain in your cab and after the reading, you receive a print-out with the actual tyre pressure of the vehicle’s tyres. When the tyre pressure is correct, you can safely return to the motorway. When the tyre pressure is not adequate, you can find a list of tyre service companies in the area on the print-out to immediately take care of this problem.

On the measuring bench

The Free Tyre Check is simple. When leaving APM Terminals at MV2, take the left lane and follow the signs Free Tyre Check:

  • When the traffic light turns green, you may drive your vehicle onto the measuring bench.
  • Drive slowly, no faster than 5 to 10 km/h over the measuring bench, you will be alerted by an error message when driving too fast.
  • The matrix signal indicator (MSI) shows measurement information:
Stop sign Wait till the system is finished with the reading.
Red Light Red light: underinflated tyre or an error message, please drive to the information point.
Green Light Green light: correct tyre pressure, continue driving towards the exit or information point.
Info Sign At the information point press the button to receive the print-out of the measured data. When your tyre pressure is inadequate, take the print-out with you to the tyre service company.

Avoid an erroneous measurement by driving smoothly, not jerkily. Do not stop at the measuring bench, continue to roll, do not steer sharply or shift gears.

For your own safety you are prohibited from leaving the vehicle or parking.
